Slave Machine is the sixth studio album by the Brazilian thrash metal band Nervosa, released on April 3, 2026 by Napalm Records. It marks a new era for the group, now with founder Prika Amaral taking on lead vocals (as well as guitar), alongside guitarist Helena Kotina and an international lineup with Greek and Brazilian influences. The album reinforces Nervosa's identity as one of the leading female and aggressive forces in modern thrash/death metal, maintaining their Brazilian roots of speed and fury, but evolving into an even more mature sound.

The album is described by the band itself as "the most brutal and melodic" of their career. In it, Nervosa unleashes "their inner beasts" with impressive speed, crushing riffs, and heavy emphasis, without losing catchy hooks. There's an interesting balance: explosive old-school thrash; more direct death metal influences; and melodic moments and even more accessible alternative bridges (as in the title track).

The result is a visceral, aggressive, and energetic album, frequently compared to bands like Destruction, Kreator, Testament, Sepultura, Onslaught, and Crypta. Initial reviews highlight the consistency, the love for craft, and how vital and relevant the album sounds, mixing classic thrash with a contemporary touch. The promotional singles (such as the title track “Slave Machine” and “Ghost Notes”) have already showcased the intensity of the material, with official videos capturing the band's fury on stage and in the studio.

As is typical of Nervosa, the lyrics revolve around themes such as society, rebellion, oppression, social criticism, and personal/collective apocalypse—all delivered with Prika's guttural and angry vocals. The title Slave Machine suggests a reflection on the human being as a “slave machine” of the system, routine, or their own weaknesses, something that perfectly matches the musical aggression.

In short, Slave Machine solidifies Nervosa as one of the most consistent and ferocious thrash metal bands today. It's a straightforward, heavy, fast album with a strong personality—ideal for those who enjoy Brazilian thrash with attitude, technique, and plenty of aggression. If you liked Jailbreak (2023), this one will probably please you even more with its combination of brutality and melody.
