*Real History*
The southern region of Brazil was disputed between the Portuguese and the Spanish since the foundation of Colônia do Sacramento.
After a Constituent Assembly annexed the region to Brazil, 33 leaders from the United Provinces of the Río de la Plata claimed the territory, formally declaring war in December 1825.
Brazilian forces were defeated, and with British mediation, the Oriental Republic of Uruguay was established.
