Mental genocide
I’ve been reaching out, but the shadows drag me down
Like a shroud, they suffocate all in relentless doubt
We all have a cross to bear, but the weight of this burden is far too much to compare
Close my eyes, and begin to drift away
Far away from aversion, that had lead me astray

I’ve drowned in dismay
All on my own, I threw it all away
On my own

I watch from the other side of the glass
Where I stare and waste away in time that has passed
All thoughts were unsupported
Dreams reduced to smoke
A life deemed unimportant
So turn away and go as I choke

Realize this could end in a moment
But I have been void of choice
There’s no life in this prison, but to succumb to these walls

We are not the same, you and I
By will and drive, I will be defined

This life is a test
One I’ll let play out in jest
For it has cost the price of all my self-respect
I disconnect
Disconnect all the parts that kept this in tact

Pray for a soul to keep while I beg for inner peace
Selfishness has stripped from me, the gift of eternal sleep
