Emerging from Cork, Ireland in late 2013, Soothsayer formed when five forces aligned to create a sound steeped in blackened, doom-laden intensity. Blending introspective angst with raw social frustration, the band quickly carved out a reputation across Cork and beyond with their crushing, sludge-driven live performances.

Their self-titled debut EP arrived in 2014, recorded live in the rural Irish landscape—a method that would become a defining trait of their sound. Dark, immersive, and enigmatic, Soothsayer began spreading their presence across Ireland with performances marked by atmosphere and intensity.

In 2017, they released their second EP At This Great Depth via Transcending Obscurity, pushing their reach beyond Ireland. This era saw their first international shows, including appearances at Gothoom Festival in Slovakia and a trip to Malta, which resulted in the live album Soothsayer Live in Malta MMXIX.

The band continued to build momentum with a 2018 split release alongside Partolón and live performances with acts such as Bell Witch, Alcest, and Dead Witches. In 2019, they entered the studio to record their debut full-length Echoes of the Earth, featuring guest appearances from Dave Ingram, Paul Catten, and Eugene Robinson.

Despite global slowdowns in 2020, Soothsayer continued refining their sound, also releasing Soothsayer Live in Malta MMXIX via Cursed Monk Records. In 2021, Echoes of the Earth saw wider release on vinyl through Vendetta Records.

By 2023, the band had reached new heights, performing at Bloodstock Festival in the UK, taking the stage directly after Megadeth.

In 2024, Soothsayer entered Last Light Studios in Dublin to record their second album, The Unbinding—their most focused and powerful work to date. The album delivers a harrowing and immersive journey through the band’s evolving sound.
