'Kristall' is the closing track of Sun Of The Sleepless' part of their untitled split album with Cavernous Gate, according to mastermind Schwadorf "a hymn to the icy kingdom of winter when a snowy white coat sets everything to sleep, into a slower motion and finally unto hold. Having said that, it is just as much about introspection, putting your spirit into hibernation - a healing sleep that will destroy at first but eventually create something new.
Musically, it's important to me as well, entirely based and composed on the hammered dulcimer and one of the most atmospheric tracks in the history of Sun Of The Sleepless. Sadly, I sometimes get the feeling that some people view these shorter, ambient tracks as more of a filler thing and couldn't disagree more. To me, they are just as vital to my music as the longer, more epic metal tracks.
